Questions about William Caldwell
By:Jerry Gagnon

Thanks Tom, for the reply letting me know how the titles were passed down and how they acquired them.

In my search for my ancestor, William Caldwell, Captain in Butler's Rangers, I came across the book, "A King's Colonel at Niagara." It's the story of Lt. Col. John Caldwell. He was in charge of Fort Niagara at the beginning of the Revolutionary War. William Caldwell escaped from Philadelphia and made it to Niagara, where he strangely he met his cousin, John. If he a cousin of Lt. John Caldwell,
then his father was a brother of James, the father of Lt. Col. John.

This leads me to believe, maybe wishful thinking, that
William Caldwell, who was born in 1710 and died in 1802,
had three wives that I know of. What I am trying to find out is who were his first two wives and who were the children from these unions. I only know of one son, Sir Alexander who was fathered by William and Isabella Clark, who was his third wife.

Thanks again for your input.
