I know that he came to the colonies in 1772 and I know that he joined Lord Dunbar's forces and fought the Indians in western Pennsylvania. I also know that he had a wealthy uncle in Philadelphia. I know that he was arrested and was going to be executed. He escaped and made it to Fort Niagara whre he met a cousin,
WHAT I DON'T KNOW: Was he in the military before he came to the colonies. I believe so. Was his wealthy uncle in Philadelphia a Caldwell or on his mother's side? I believe it was the mother's side because this Caldwell branch seemed like they were loyal to England. I DON'T KNOW who performed his marriage ceremony. His wife was Catholic and all his children were brought up Catholic.
