Date: 13:25 9/28/03 Hi. Me again with an "old song" as they say in Scotland.
In old maps of Ayrshire, just West of Kilmarnock is Annanhill where my ancester Johnne Caldwell was living in the 1500s. Just West of that again is Annandale Colliery. North of which is Greenhill where my Gr.gr.gr.gr.grandfather George Caldwell of Annanhill moved to with his wife Jean Parker in 1753. South of Annandale is Springhill where my gr.gr.grandfather John Caldwell (1794-1876)farmed with his wife Elizabeth Manson in the early 1880s. Their son David Caldwell(1842-1927)my gr. grand father married Martha Templeton 1870s and farmed Springhill then Holmes which was just South of Springhill. My father David Caldwell (1910-1951) married Christina Murdoch in 1937 and farmed Inchgotrick (a Caldwell farm for 200 years) which is only about 3 miles South of all the above farms, although on the South side of the river Irvine so technically in Kyle Stewart as opposed to all the rest being in Cunningham district. It is a fact that many of the Caldwells of this family spread out, some in the 1600s going to Ulster, some coming back, some in the 1800s going to New Zealand, Australia and Illinois U.S.A. In the 1900s some moving South into England and Our family to Canada in 1995.
