Was hitting Google Books and found a book wherein a John Caldwell is mentioned - however, I was not able to check out any content.

The book was "The Papacy, Scotland & Northern England, 1342 - 1378" by Andrew D. Barrell, Cambridge University Press, 2002.

I also found it interesting that above the Index listing of John Caldwell was = "Caldeu, John de"

The book uses the Registrum and the period considered - 1342 to 1378 - fits in and around the Caldwell information each of you is posting.
