That was my feeling too - and that the publisher is Cambridge got my attention as well. Another of my current "reads" is "The First Crusade - A New History: The Roots of Conflict Between Christianity and Islam" by Thomas Asbridge, Oxford University Press, 2004. The work produced by these universities is usually good, well focused. When I did a search on "Registrum monasterii de Passelet", the work of Andrew D. Barrell was one of at least ten books listed immediately that all cite from the Registrum. Consequently, the passages cited are usually translated, and note the edition and page number. The other books included: THE NEW CAMBRIDGE MEDIEVAL HISTORY: VOLUME 5 - C.1198-C. 1300, 1999. A HISTORY OF PRIVATE LAW IN SCOTLAND - by Kenneth Reid and Reinhard Zimmerman, 2001. A HISTORY OF THE COUNTY OF RENFREW FROM THE EARLIEST TIMES - by William Musham Metcalfe, 1905. PROPHECY OF BERCHAN: IRISH AND SCOTTISH HIGH-KINGS OF THE EARLY MIDDLE AGES - by Benjamin T. Hudson, 1996. VIKING EMPIRES - by Angleo Forte, Richard Oram and Frederick Pederson, 2005. Also a Cambridge University Press publication. BRITAIN AND IRELAND, 900-1300: INSULAR RESPONSES TO MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN CHANGE - by Brendan Smith, also Cambridge. Paisley Abbey was the location of a tremendous number of watershed historic events. The Registrum records them. No authority would fail to reference it when considering the history of Scotland, Ireland and England. Back to the search!! Messages In This Thread
