I am currently reading "Trial by Fire - The hundred years war" by Jonahan Sumption".

It is mainly about France & England during the period 1347-1369. There is an interesting chapter on the French-Scottish alliance dring the period when William Caldwell was Chancellor and although there is no driect mention there are allusions and references that can be checked. When I get a bit further into the book I willpost up some references that may be well worth following up.

So nice to have a "team" that is willing to find, buy, or read historical references to advance "the cause" - I am sure that through our combined efforts we will really get somewhere Enthusiasm is catching as well.

Would be handy if we could inspire a researcher who was fluent in French and another who lived in Scotland and really liked visiting old libraries and researching
