CaldwellGenealogy.com Discussion ForumA little historical snippet

Date: 11:55 8/3/06 "The experience of Robert Stewart in 1334, forced to flee his lordships of Renfrew and Kyle while his tenants did homage to David Strathbogie, showed the link between protection and lordship." [The Wars of Scotland 1214-1371 - Michael Brown 2004 EUP page 304] What was this all about? Wasn't this pretty close to the time when Gilchrist More married the Caldwell heiress? It was certainly not long before William Caldwell became Chancellor. The Caldwell family followed the Stewart pattern of lordship in Kyle and Renfrew. More information and ideas are welcome. Tom
