Date: 21:16 9/20/02 Can anyone help me locate the place of birth of my g-g-g-g-great grandfather, John Caldwell, who according to a census record, was born in Ireland in abt 1771. I found the information in an 1850 census (he was an old man) text of Fayette County, PA. John's wife was named Susan, and the census states that she was born, in Pa. John and Susan lived in Bullshkin twsp, Fayette County, PA. John had a farm and was listed as a colier, by trade, on the census record. I do not know Susan's maiden name, and have found their graves. John had a son named John, who lived in Dunbar twsp, Fayette County, PA, and he was a farmer. John II married Susan, or Sarah?, Wilhelm. John and his wife had James, who married Amanda J. Hoover. They resided in Connellsville twsp along the Breakneck Road, Fayette County. James was chief of Police in Connellsville in about 1898. He was also a constable of Bullsking twsp for many years. He worked as an elderly man, being a night watchman at a coal and coke yard. James and Amanda had Charles C., who married Myrtle J. Bittner of Pennsville, Fayette County. Charles C. worked as a lineman for Tri-state line services, and eventually Bell. He had to retire at the early age of thirty seven due to severe athsma and stomach ulcers. He moved to Akron, OH, with his family and died in a hospital while undergoing an operation for his stomach ulcers at the age of thiry eight. He and Myrtle were the parents of my grandfather, Charles C. Jr., who married Julia Namet. Charles C. Jr. served in the Army Infantry during the second world war in New Guinnea and the Phillipines. Charles C. Jr. worked his way up in the coal industry and became a mine foreman at Shannopin Mine, Greene County, Bobtown, PA. He and Julia had my father, Daniel. I would love to know if anyone could help me with any information, or if anyone has came accross my line. I assume that John Caldwell was born somewhere on the Ulster plantation in Ireland? I also suspect that, judging by the pattern of first names, such as, James and John, my grandfather may have came from the famous castle Caldwell family? Please help! I apologise for being long-winded, but I have much to tell. Messages In This Thread
